Photos taken on a coastal clifftop at Fortrose when we visited on 21 February 2021. It was the first time we’d explored the oceanfront aspect of Fortrose and we both enjoyed it immensely. All photos taken by Nigel except the last one by me. The Catlins, New Zealand.

A beautiful place, Liz. I’m wondering if the cliffs are actively collapsing or are they solidly in place? Your second image with the free standing “platform” is quite intriguing.

I don’t know the answer to your wondering but my guess is “actively collapsing”. This is a wild place with extremely strong winds (I’ll be posting photos that show the effects) and ocean tides.

Beautiful scenery! And, as you would expect, I love the pretty little gentian. 🙂 It must feel really good to be able to get out and walk around the coast – I’m really looking forward to doing something similar here!

It’s really tough when you can’t get out to the coast, I really feel for you because there’s nothing like it for being a really good tonic to body and soul!

When I was a girl, I was just a couple of miles from the beach, so it was easy to just cycle there on a nice day. It’s always felt like a healing and restorative place to go. We’re a lot further from the coast now, but can do it at weekends.

The coast looks rugged and beautiful. The wild flowers were a nice discovery and I especially like the final close-up shot, Liz, that gives us such a wonderful view of the details of the flower.
