Just Up The Road

Other photos taken when we visited the Beaumont Bridge on the Clutha River, and subsequently drove on to Lawrence. We stopped so that I could take photos of "frightened trees" and Nigel while sitting in the car, managed to get a photo of a sweet-looking white horse. Clutha District, New Zealand. 16 September 2020. "Frightened... Continue Reading →

Hills and Gullies

Hills, gullies and a ... pond! We saw this attractive farm landscape after driving further along the road from the Busy Guy sculpture. The green hills, the tussock and cabbage trees, the sheep and the pond provided an enticing scene that was persuasive enough to make us pull over. Photos taken by Nigel, Waitahuna-Clydevale route... Asters and White Butterfly

These photos were taken a few days before New Zealand went into the first lockdown for Covid-19, back in March. It was a beautiful autumn weekend and we drove to Central Otago and ended up in Ophir. Taken 22 March 2020. Text and photos by Liz; Exploring Colour (2020)

Joy to the World

Spring was very present and pleasant in the Dunedin Botanic Gardens today. Near the top of the gardens I stood under a big Eucalyptus gunnii tree taking pics of it, and all around me I heard tui song - full surround sound! They sang endlessly at top volume, the whole gamut of their usual crazy... Continue Reading →

Paradise on Pond

They're exceedingly noisy birds, you can hear them in this recording. The male and female make different sounds, most often in unison! Endemic. Photos taken by Liz, 16 August 2020. Central Otago,... My wonderful hot chocolate at Steam cafe. 3. Railway that crosses the main street, then curves round to the seafront. 4. Miniature streets... Continue Reading →

Well Mannered Gull

It was Friday midday and I was down the waterfront at Oamaru killing time while Nigel had a work-related meeting in a cafe in town. I got out my Panasonic Lumix camera to take a photo of the sea when I saw that this gull further down the railing was sidling quickly toward me along... Continue Reading →

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Sleepy dog lapping up the warm sunshine this afternoon; today was fine and sunny but nevertheless it was a very chilly winter day. We called into Forum Cafe in Milton on our way home from Dunedin. Our first visit - mainly because I was curious to see the mural paintings by Alice Muir aka Alice... Continue Reading →

Pomahaka River, West Otago

This afternoon we took off for a drive to explore some back roads and eventually ended up at Waikaia for pizza at the pub. We went all over the place before getting there though. From home we went to Moa Flat, Wilden Settlement Road, Deepdell Road, Switzers Road, Winding Creek Road to Waikaia. And then... Continue Reading →
