I thought you may enjoy these WHITE tulips! ~note the beautiful lemony multi-petal beauties in the 2nd photo, they're lovely and fluffy-looking, making me think of meringue 😀 Edendale area, Southland, New Zealand 22 October.
Hidden Colour
Hidden Colour. Glimpses of bright colour through trees revealed the presence of these colourful tulips - they were further along the same road as my recent big tulip-block photos - but single fields - and on the opposite side of the road. Seaward Downs, Edendale area, Southland, New Zealand. 22 October.
Big Colour
Big Colour.. fields of Tulips. Spring in Southland, New Zealand. Seaward Downs near Edendale. 22 October.
Purple and Red
Bounteous blooms! Tulips at Menzies Ferry, Edendale. Southland, New Zealand. 22 October.
Big And Bright
Second trip to the tulips, 22 October. Edendale area, Southland, New Zealand. Massive field with various bright stripes of colour, huge field!
Blueberry Colour
These tulips I particularly like, their colour seemed different to anything else I'd seen and reminded me of blueberry. These were the last tulip fields we looked at on our first trip looking for tulips, which was 17 October. They remain a favourite even though we've done a second trip since then. Edendale area, Southland, New Zealand.
Tulip Tour
It was great fun searching for tulip fields this morning. We drove over to the Edendale area again, Menzies Ferry and Seaward Downs. Here are four photos from four different tulip sites, all photos taken by Nigel and edited by me. Some plantings are huge and the colours stand out for miles. Others are more... Continue Reading →
Tracking Tulips
This morning we've been out and about in the Edendale area of Southland, New Zealand. We wanted to see what we might find in the way of tulips and we had quite some success! Here's some context photos to put you in the picture, all taken by Nigel 22 October 2022. Each of these photos... Continue Reading →
Sight Lines
They're such a sight.. these brazen, beautiful tulips that parade through the countryside at Edendale, Southland, New Zealand. We admire their stunning colours disrupting the otherwise uniformly-green Southland pastoral landscape. Spectacular colour in a region where dull earthy tones are the unwritten 'dress code' for attending an on-farm event! 🙂 From a 2021 ODT article... Continue Reading →
Patch of Purple Tulips
Huge patch of purple tulips. Edendale, Southland, New Zealand. Photos taken 17 October. The first two photos were taken by me, 2nd two by Nigel. I chose Nigel's darkest versions because the distant landscape of The Catlins shows up better.. it's nice to have that context.
On The Bright Side
Another huge striped tulip field - I'd walked along my side of the fence to the far end, looking at the colours and taking photos with the aim of reaching this bright colour stripe that I could see at the end. Unbelievable colour but it's for real, and alongside were some very pretty pink-and-white tulips.... Continue Reading →
Of All Stripes
Glorious colours! Multi-striped field of tulips, Edendale. [This field was on the opposite side of the gravel country road from where I took the first two photos of the pink tulip field] ~Mon 17 Oct. Southland, New Zealand.
