It was great fun searching for tulip fields this morning. We drove over to the Edendale area again, Menzies Ferry and Seaward Downs. Here are four photos from four different tulip sites, all photos taken by Nigel and edited by me. Some plantings are huge and the colours stand out for miles. Others are more... Continue Reading →
They're such a sight.. these brazen, beautiful tulips that parade through the countryside at Edendale, Southland, New Zealand. We admire their stunning colours disrupting the otherwise uniformly-green Southland pastoral landscape. Spectacular colour in a region where dull earthy tones are the unwritten 'dress code' for attending an on-farm event! 🙂 From a 2021 ODT article... Continue Reading →
Another huge striped tulip field - I'd walked along my side of the fence to the far end, looking at the colours and taking photos with the aim of reaching this bright colour stripe that I could see at the end. Unbelievable colour but it's for real, and alongside were some very pretty pink-and-white tulips.... Continue Reading →
Pink tulips! took a few hours off and drove south to Edendale to search for tulip fields; we found loads of colour including this huge field of pink; and my activity attracted lots of attention. I spotted the steeple today while we were driving, and by returning to a gravel side road we'd just passed, we were able to make it to the church. This is a Presbyterian... Continue Reading →

Pear blossom at our place in Tapanui, West Otago. First two pics taken Sunday 02 Oct, afternoon and sunset. That was a lovely Spring day. Snowy pic taken this morning, 05 October. We had a pretty heavy snow shower this morning and the street landscape is looking like a christmas card scene. New Zealand. Text... Continue Reading →
The glorious riot of colour again.. another four photos taken by me when we drove along the East Roxburgh road on 25 September 2022 and came across this spring display of profuse yellow and pink blossom at a private property, on the road frontage. Forsythia and, I suppose the pink blossom would be cherry blossom.... Continue Reading →
When we drove to East Roxburgh on Sunday afternoon, 25 Sept, I was delighted when we drove past this glorious riot of colour along the road frontage of a private property. Few would be brave enough to layer great masses of yellow and pink blossom in the same planting but somebody's had the courage to... Continue Reading →
Photos of the two of us having a wander yesterday, and a very cool-looking 'clothed' native cabbage tree, found when exploring alongside Commissioners Track, Roxburgh East in Central Otago. New Zealand. The lower section of the track has extensive blocks where native trees and shrubs have been planted, some parts quite intensively, and others scattered.... Continue Reading →
