Peering at the Moon

This morning I was again up reasonably early so I peered out the front door expecting to see a boring grey cloudy day. There were no vibrant colours like yesterday morning but enough to interest me that I tried taking a couple of photos from our front porch. Tapanui, West Otago, New Zealand The Moon... Sunrise in Tapanui

These photos taken about 45mins ago in Tapanui, West Otago, New Zealand. Sunrise viewed from our front door. Taken by Liz, 17 June 2020. Text and photos by Liz, Exploring Colour (2020)

Country Road

After stopping at the apple tree featured in my last two posts we carried on down the road and the seal gave way to gravel (dirt really - there wasn't much gravel). Nice landscape. Soon we reluctantly decided it was time to turn around and head for home. Nigel turned into a gateway and we... Continue Reading →

The Apple Tree

The same roadside apple tree as in my last post, found on 08 June and a hillside view from the same spot. In rural country near Tapanui, West Otago, New Zealand. First photo by me and the others by Nigel. Early winter now for us in NZ. Text by Liz, photos by Nigel and Liz;... Continue Reading →

Joy at Midnight

In New Zealand we move down to Covid-19 alert level one from midnight tonight. Essentially this means life returns to normal within New Zealand. Obviously border controls / quarantine will remain. We now have no active cases and it's 17 days since the last new case was reported in NZ. Awesome news!!! Two paragraphs this... Continue Reading →

I love the autumn season but still sad to see those lovely colours falling to the ground to slowly fade, waste away and decay. Still pretty though, when we did a local walk on 05 June. Tapanui, West Otago, New Zealand. Photos... Continue Reading →

Perserves

We went for this lovely little local drive on the evening of 28 May, the real reason being so Nigel could show me some nice autumn trees that he'd seen while driving to a job. On our way back we thought we'd like to check out this farm roadside stall - we hadn't been able... Continue Reading →

Gold

When still in Level 4 lockdown we encountered a number of eye-catching plants on one of our walks from home, they all had gold. Whether lots of gold or just hints, they captured our attention and interest. Tapanui, West Otago, New Zealand. Taken by Nigel 24 April 2020 I feel heart-sick at the sufferings of... Highway Monster

We treated this scary monster with awe and respect. It was intimidating. But also fascinating, awesome - we were excited our walk coincided with this hedge cutter returning from a paddock on one side of the road, then crossing the road and heading up a driveway directly opposite. All photos taken by Nigel, 13 May... Continue Reading →
