Smiley Face Pansies

Smiley-face design in a garden bed of pansies. Yellow pansy faces with blue pansy eyes and smiles! This is a very large round garden bed that serves like a pedestrian round-about or traffic circle. The pansies inhabit a wide outer edge, immediately outside of a neatly trimmed low box hedge. 29 Oct. Alexandra public garden,... Continue Reading →

Hidden Colour

Hidden Colour. Glimpses of bright colour through trees revealed the presence of these colourful tulips - they were further along the same road as my recent big tulip-block photos - but single fields - and on the opposite side of the road. Seaward Downs, Edendale area, Southland, New Zealand. 22 October.

Lilac Spring

The beautiful blossom, in pink and white, covered the hillside between the road and the mighty Clutha River / Mata-Au. Such an awesome pleasure to see all this before the blossom disappears. Central... Continue Reading →

Oakleaf Hydrangea

I've known ordinary hydrangeas since I was a child but oakleaf hydrangeas were unknown to me till a few years ago. I love them! We found this one in a pocket park near the railway line in Gore on 30 April. In the second pic you can also see the plant, beyond Nigel. Gore, Southland,... Continue Reading →

Flower Friends

This morning we visited Dunedin Botanic Garden and savoured our early autumn view of late summer flowers. The day was bright-overcast and we enjoyed all the beautiful colours. Some plants have got so tall! The 'scale bar' is almost 6'3. New Zealand.
