White Bales

White wrapped bales in fields. Old Coach Road, as we drove to Clinton, 22 January. New Zealand. I can't help imagining they're arranged in readiness for the imminent arrival of a bride and bridegroom!

Goats Enjoying Summer

We spotted this group of goats in a field, looking very casual and relaxed, as we drove to Gore this morning.. so Nigel stopped and backed up and I took the shot from the passenger seat through Nigel's open window. Eight goats are fully visible and two are unseen behind the two big hay bales.... Continue Reading →

Country Road

Here's a new intersection but still on our country drive of 01 January. First up is a gravel road, lined on one side with a long line of our native flax plants and they're in flower hence the tall stalks. After that are three photos of swirly field patterns. We're well into summer now and... Continue Reading →

Our primary problem was an overgrown golden macrocarpa claiming too much space and dominating our frontage. Connor and Matt dealt decisively with this and other concerns and, bonus, they were relaxed about us taking... Continue Reading →

Paeonies on Box

Fabulous magenta paeony flowers.. so pretty with the blooms leaning over the box hedge. Public garden in Alexandra, Central Otago, New Zealand. 24 November 2022.

Smiley Face Pansies

Smiley-face design in a garden bed of pansies. Yellow pansy faces with blue pansy eyes and smiles! This is a very large round garden bed that serves like a pedestrian round-about or traffic circle. The pansies inhabit a wide outer edge, immediately outside of a neatly trimmed low box hedge. 29 Oct. Alexandra public garden,... Continue Reading →

Ominous

First three photos taken in Earnscleugh as we were en route to Cromwell, 29 October. Through Cromwell Gorge we crawled along as rain bucketed down.. we hurriedly unpacked at our motel. Later when quieter I took the last photo, from outside our motel unit. Central Otago, New Zealand. Beautiful lilac hedge and stone wall partnership.Lovely... Continue Reading →
