All Yellow

Except those that aren't. We were driving back from Central Otago via Moa Flat and through Edievale at which point I asked Nigel to pull over. The reason was this beautiful clump of yellow lupins flowering on the roadside verge with a weathered rustic shed behind the blooms. A few metres further along the road... Continue Reading →

Fuzzy Buds, Beautiful Blooms

Robust buds and blooms on this Magnolia tree in Gore Gardens, 18 September 2022. Very messy form, but magnificent magenta blooms - a real stand-out in the early Spring garden. A real bright spark!

A Blue Day

Wandering aimlessly along a path at Dunedin Botanic Garden I spotted a long line of blue colour through the trees and instantly became way more intentional in my direction, choosing paths that would take me to the lovely blue. 25 March 2022, autumn in New Zealand.

Waikoikoi Moon

Driving home after a longish local joy-trip this evening, we were stunned to see a big orange moon rising over the brow of a hill. Nigel instantly pulled over into a side road so we could enjoy seeing it rise over the ridge. My camera on auto didn't do well but I've jazzed the shots... Continue Reading →

A Moment of both Peril and Promise

Jan 6th, Capitol. "That day, and our response to it, contain potential for both peril and promise." [final paragraph] “This is indeed a moment of both peril and promise. Sitting Pretty

Wonderful Monkey Puzzle Tree in Tapanui endowed by nature at this time of year with 'baubles', on a private property not far from us and near their boundary fence.
