People talk about toning colour down; I tell them I want it to go right off the scale. -- NORI POPE Here I am, in my happy place, in colour space. Happy as ...

Colour Magic

Immersed in joyful, happy colour, our treat after a day of car travel. We didn't have much time but both of us felt happy and relaxed in this fun colourspace. I'll be posting more about this soon(ish). Taken 23 July 2019. Dunedin, New Zealand

Remote Control

At the wave of his hand, Nigel controls the mountain scene and navigates the alpine panorama. For us this was a 'sideshow' to the exhibition we'd arrived to see at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery on 23 July 2019 - but fun! I had a go too 🙂 Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand

Bright and Colourful

Opening the doors into "A Garden of Earthly Delights" was a bright and colourful experience. It's an exciting display space to enter and a joy to explore. Here's an introduction to the exhibition (which ends on 11 August 2019). nb: this post continues on from my previous post  A Garden of Earthly Delights Hocken Library,... Continue Reading →

A Garden of Earthly Delights

This fascinating exhibition currently on display at the Hocken Library in Dunedin is well worth a visit. We went on 29 May 2019 and were both glad we'd made the time to take a look. Items on display are drawn from many different University of Otago collections and the exhibition was curated by Robyn Notman... Continue Reading →

Oamaru Patterns

Her comments came through this afternoon - each post has its own individual response providing extensive information about the particular work and her art. To read her responses... Fruit and Veg

"The oversized fruit and vegetables represent how much food waste there is in the average household. The amount that goes to landfill and becomes methane gas when it could be composted or be chicken feed etc." -- The above quote is an excerpt from an Oct 2015 account of how members of Art Fibre Dunedin... After Dinner

After Dinner is a work by Susan Nunn, viewed at the Community Gallery on Friday 18 January, Dunedin, New Zealand ... an eye-catching and sizable exhibit. Being a non-sewer myself I was incredulous to see a whole table-load of fabric "fast food" and "packaging". This is about contemporary society's acceptance of food and packaging waste... Food and Fibre

In Dunedin I found that an Art Fibre Exhibition was currently showing at the Community Gallery and we both had a look. It was hugely interesting! I've headed this Food and Fibre because that's what popped into my head... the artist I profile in this post had at least three food-related works on display. Today... Continue Reading →

Art Deco Beauties in Bluff (3)

Immediately past the bright pink art deco building we came across The Lighthouse Gallery with which I was enchanted! It looked wonderful from the outside and later we went inside and relaxed in the cafe where the manager (Bridget) made us very welcome. Its only dawned on me as I write this that the bright...
