Taieri Mouth

When we drive home via the south coast route from Dunedin we drive through Taieri Mouth before heading back inland. This is a small fishing town and it's also very scenic. We had some food with us and stopped for a short break in our journey, 20 May 2021. Click on any photo to enlarge.... Continue Reading →

Rock Sea Sky

After exploring the east side of the first beach island we skirted around to see what lay beyond. We found another beach island and some fabulous rocks. Ocean View, Dunedin, New Zealand. ~from our short visit yesterday when we stopped on our way home from Dunedin. Click on any photo to enlarge. This is the... Continue Reading →

Ocean View

Here's the beach where we found the island ~as per yesterday's post. Lovely long white sand beach, waves, wildlife (an oystercatcher) and a beach island! Ocean View, Dunedin, New Zealand. Island Beach

Found this beautiful island on a beautiful beach. Today we took the coast route home from Dunedin, and we've passed this beach access before. I thought it looked very inviting but it's one of those entrances that's hard to spot in time and next thing you've already whizzed past. Today we decided to turn around... Continue Reading →

Columns and Colour

I spent a little time in Dunedin Botanic Garden today, not much as the wind was cold. Couldn't resist taking some photos near the main entrance because the red foliage was looking great (usually it's difficult to get this particular foliage to come out 'right' in the camera). Tree Medusa

A few photos I set aside of the horse chestnut tree in Dunedin Botanic Garden because they made me think of Medusa. The first day I stood under the tree I thought of Medusa and when I published my initial post Ann Mackay confirmed the same thing so I thought I'd do a 'Medusa' post... Continue Reading →

Very Familiar

Photo selection from the initial part of the bush walk at Black Gully Reserve, a very short drive from where we live in Tapanui, West Otago, New Zealand. These were taken yesterday in the early evening, not long before sunset. I chose to take photos of things that are very ordinary to me, so ordinary... Continue Reading →

Friendly Fantail

In the late afternoon we drove to Black Gully Reserve near Tapanui and did a short bush walk. While we paused on the track, a fantail came to visit and flitted about us (as fantails do), chirruping to us all the while. They flit constantly from side-to-side so my shots are far from ideal but... Continue Reading →

Irises and Goldfish

I spent quite some time on 28 April wandering the Dunedin Botanic Garden while Nigel was busy with his work. The day was grey and bright and tricky for photography. Here's a few pics I took when I checked out the pond garden and found irises in flower and bright goldfish hiding under water lily... Continue Reading →
