This is a native species I didn’t encounter on either of my two visits to NZ. I had an immediate question about the common name you gave. Then I saw and followed your link to the explanation.
It’s an interesting plant: “Selliera radicans can be drenched with saltwater to contain weeds.”
“It can make a good “no-mow” lawn.”

When I saw that common name, the first thing that came to mind was our slang phrase for certain intimate activities — and that was it! I love this! (And the plant is pretty, too.)
Hehe .. maybe coz the common name has its origins from a clifftop at Auckland’s west coast beaches! I didn’t know either till I searched on the scientific name and got a surprise 🙂
