Updated snow view from my front door, we’re one month into “Spring” in New Zealand. Pics taken this morning. We’re currently getting a mix of sun and snow showers by turn! Tapanui, West Otago. Click on any photo to enlarge

Enjoy autumn while it lasts Candice. I couldn’t believe how winter suddenly returned on us – and worse than anything we actually had back in the winter).

Brrr, that is cold. I have never seen snow so these pics are a treat.

Oh wow.. thank you for telling me. I’m glad I took the pics and posted them! We were amazed how quickly the snow built up – it ended up really thick!

Oh dear! I hope you enjoyed it. And then, there is the melting and the clean-up I suppose. 🤔

Yes, that’s right! Nigel did shovel some snow from the driveway. All the rest has melted away now but the ground will no doubt be super soggy – yuk!

I know it’s hard to deal with late spring snows when one is ready for the flowers to blooms, Liz. But I look at this and I think of all the moisture in the snow. We would be happy to take it.
If it’s any comfort, at this time of year the snow probably won’t stick around for long.
Happy spring to you,
Tanja

Thank you Tanja! I’d gladly pipe all the snow-water to Colorado, it’ll be real soggy here when it melts! Sure hope we get some warm sunny days.

As a Minnesotan, I’m moved to say: Now, that’s more like it; now that’s more like it, real snow for a change–let’s all go out and play in it! Of course, I do realize that it causes a lot of hardship and stiff challenges for folks who have to get around and tend to stock in the fields, and many prayers are with them. May the winds warm and the sun shine and hasten the melting (with hopes that there’s not too much mud with slips)!

The snow here goes as quickly as it falls. But granddaughter loved seeing it falling. Snow is so special.

What a great experience for her! I remember as a little kid seeing and then touching snow on the Desert Road. There’d been a big snow just before my parents had to drive somewhere. Dad stopped the car and we had a bit of a play in the snow at the side of the road, and it all seemed so magic!

A wee bit more than the pretty dusting! Soon it will be just a memory! Will you have to shovel or just let it melt?

Nigel will probably just let it melt I imagine. As soon as Spring temperature is back it should disappear pretty quick although the ground’s gonna be soggy for a while!
