  2. I’d say the trees being irrigated are apple, but I haven’t a clue about those first ones. I’ve never seen anything like them, but they are striking with those twisty branches.

    1. The first ones will be apples almost for sure. I’d say the ones being irrigated are cherries or apricots due to the way they’re pruned and also because their buds are at risk when it’s cold (we’re still in winter) and they’re sprayed with water for protection. They’re probably cherries, I’m unsure that apricots are in need of such protection.

    1. Hi Mike! Thanks. The first shots are bound to be apple trees. The orchard with water sprinklers is apricots or cherries. My main clue is from the way they’re pruned and to some extent the colour of the branches. Secondly, bulk crops in this area are generally apples, apricots or cherries. I’m not sure I can tell apricot from cherry trees at this time of year 🙂

      1. I grew up in the suburbs of a large city, so country life is utterly foreign to me. Telling fruit trees apart is a challenge–I consider myself to be lucky to distinguish a cow from a sheep. 🙂
