Devils Bridge Wetland

I haven’t quite finished Oamaru… although I’ve shared all my photos there’s a lovely set taken by Nigel to share with y’all! On the Friday afternoon, 24 July, there came a time when Nigel finished his appointments and I suggested we go for a drive into the country – a random drive with no prior planning. So off we went and on our way back to town we came across this wetland that we hadn’t previously been aware of. The sun had already gone from the walking track and I chose to stay in the car but Nigel was able to have a look around and here is the first of two posts I’ll publish from his photos.

Oamaru, Waitaki, New Zealand

The group of birds on the water below are scaup. Behind them is the rock formation shown in the first and second photos of this post. The house is a handy reference point in the following photos.

Another post will follow, it’ll be titled Shady Shore (4 photos).

Update 02 Aug – now published:   Shady Shore

  1. It was so interesting to see your first photos included rocks. That’s not the first thing that comes to mind when I think ‘wetland’ — it’s another example of how diverse the details of a category can be.

  2. This is such a wonderful place to be, Liz. I really like the texture and colours in the rock formations which have been captured very well. Beautiful light and reflections on the water, too!

  3. Very appealing pictures – make me feel that I’d like to walk around there. And I like the texture of the rocks in the first photo too.

    1. It was fortunate we arrived before the sunshine had completely gone, I was so happy with the photos Nigel got. The rocks look beautiful. I’ll have a look next time we’re there if the weather’s good. Nice place.
