Power and Connections

Today Nigel had to catch a very early flight from Dunedin Airport so I suggested we stay at Lake Waihola Sunday night so I could drop him at the airport this morning. We settled into our motel Sunday afternoon and then set off for a bit of a driving adventure. I had the bright idea... Continue Reading →

Roxburgh Dam

We turned off the main highway because I wanted to drive over the Roxburgh Dam. My photo's taken from the boat ramp after crossing. Central Otago, New Zealand. 16 Aug.

Dodging Dastardly Blocks

I've seen genuine angst from some bloggers struggling with the recent WP change to the Block Editor. I get your frustration. There's aspects of this transition that frustrate me too. I want to assure you that your concerns are real and in my opinion WP have done a terrible job of handling this. Before I... Continue Reading →

Home Sweet Home

I took these photos on Sunday 23 August, 2020 at our home. 1.  A favourite cushion on our sofa. 2.  Early spring flowers from our garden. Just enjoying some colour and fun 🙂 Tapanui, West Otago, New Zealand Text and photos by Liz; Exploring Colour (2020)

Wobbly Goat

The Wobbly Goat Cafe, Outram is a fabulous cafe that we visited last time we were on our way home from Dunedin. Outram is a small rural town not far from Dunedin (close to Mosgiel). We visited 11 August 2020 and really enjoyed the experience, we've promised ourselves we'll go again! Outram (Taieri Plain), Dunedin,... Continue Reading →

Paradise on Pond

Paradise Ducks on the farm pond that I featured in my last post. These are more properly described as Paradise Shelducks (Tadorna variegata). They're exceedingly noisy birds, you can hear them in this recording. The male and female make different sounds, most often in unison! Endemic. Photos taken by Liz, 16 August 2020. Central Otago,... Just A Farm Pond

Saw this beautiful farm pond as we were returning from Fruitlands and heading to Roxburgh, in Central Otago, New Zealand. We both took photos. There was also a resident pair of Paradise Shelducks (I'll share photos of them in another post). You can clearly see the female's white head in the first photo, and the... Continue Reading →

Bald Hill Flat

Our lovely Sunday afternoon drive (continued). I'd already mentioned that we were heading to Fruitlands, a wonderful scenic and historic area that pre-1915 was named Bald Hill Flat but then renamed Fruitlands in 1915 in recognition of fruit-growing efforts. This was short-lived as it was too cold but the name remains. It's a farming area... Continue Reading →
