New Zealand flax, old pods. The stalk had drooped allowing a closer shot. Tapanui, West Otago, NZ. Taken by Liz 03 April 2020. Click on photo to enlarge.
I’ve had a special place in my heart for flax since my first trip to NZ in the late 80s. I’ve used the wonderful, strong, lightweight flower stems for hiking and wading staffs, and I love to watch the tui in the flowers!

I’m glad you’ve found such affinity for the plant and I also love seeing tuis working the flowers!
