We were in Oamaru on Thursday 05 September and had enjoyed an early evening stroll in the public gardens. Then we went on to The Last Post pub/restaurant for dinner where I was told the fountain in the gardens is a coloured fountain at night. We drove back to the gardens and sure enough the fountain was cycling through a sequence of colours.

Illuminated buildings are always a pleasure! In Germany we have some such events in the summer and it is fantastic! It’s nice to see that in New Zealand!

I love coloured lighting but we don’t see it much in New Zealand. Oamaru is unusual!

What a fun park accent!

I know! It’s a good fit with this town because it has a lot of heritage buildings that are lit up at night including an opera house that is illuminated with a multi-coloured light show that runs for ages before repeating itself. It makes evenings in Oamaru really special 🙂

That’s fun! The red and blue versions are very dramatic! 🙂

Fun trying to photo any individual colour.. they were changing very rapidly. I got my various shades of pink while trying to get the red.. haha. It was pretty difficult. The blue was also lovely as you’ve said, and at one stage it was blue at the bottom and green on top but I didn’t manage to capture that.

Very cool idea! A little bit of theater for the park.

It’s great! The colours change very quickly though… difficult to photo a specific colour!
