These two photos seemed, to me, to belong together. Brighter and more showy than yesterday’s pinks with a very strong “Look at Me” factor. They’re not keen to share the stage with others but promised they’d behave – as long as there’s just the two of them! Flower and bird both show a wonderful pink gradient from bright to light.

This robin was photographed in Tasmania, Australia. It was a jaw-dropping moment the first time I came across a photo of this bird! In New Zealand we have a cute robin but it lacks the stunning colour.
Unsurprisingly, its common name is Pink Robin, scientific name is Petroica rodinogaster. The Aussies have another similar robin named the Rose Robin!

Yes I would love the colour! Travelling isn’t part of our plans any time soon but if it were to happen I think I’d come to Australia as you have loads of colour there and so many things I’d like to see and places to go !!

That’s for sure! Although with our current drought, it is pretty much uniform ‘brown’!!

Right! That won’t change the colour of all your wonderful varied birdlife though, so long as they survive of course! And there’s a lighting installation at Ayers Rock that I would LOVE to see, Lignum Draco photo-ed it and published on WP and when I was disappointed it would be finished by now he told me its been extended for quite some time, a year I think. I have this dream of coming to see it for myself!

Lots of great things to plan and dream about! Yes, we are truly blessed to have so many vibrantly coloured birds. I am regularly visited by vivid green and orange King parrots as well as Crimson Rosellas, Just stunning!

Benjamin says : “Gem, I wish you had some pink Robins too!” That is amazing, as he is usually all about orange on birds. He said that “the flower is for you Gem”. Thank-you!!

Jaw dropping indeed! Thank you for making me aware of this bird. I’m amazed at the vivid pink breast of this robin instead of the orange-red of our robins.
