After walking across the Shaky Bridge I followed a rough road that led around the cafe and had a wonderful time enjoying the autumn colour, found after walking a short distance. What I had spied from the road near the cafe were these lovely golden poplars and I was keen as mustard to get over there and take a closer look.

Here at last …
I found a wall of gold !!! And felt rich beyond measure 🙂 This photo gives me a feeling of deep satisfaction and happiness. Just love the colour and texture.

On my way back to the cafe I found these lovely roses tumbling over the boundary fence of a private property across the road. They were growing with great abandonment.

Mother Nature is flaunting her beauty with these golden trees! The California poppies are a lovely carpet of gold too. So much to see on your little jaunt. Hope you took a break at the cafe! Thank-you!

Yes I did visit the cafe (and enjoyed a raspberry slice with marshmallow topping and a hot chocolate, out on the verandah). I think autumn must be the best time to visit Alexandra although they have a blossom festival in the spring and I’m sure its lovely then too but I love the bright gold colours best – contrasts so well with their arid, barren environment and makes me think of the days of the 1860s gold-rush too.

I had noticed that gold in your previous post and am glad you investigated! What beauty in those trees. The poppies are also a wonderful color in the midst of what seems like a harsh environment.

Yes its a very harsh environment Ellen. Yet thyme thrives absolutely everywhere like a carpet! It was a visual feast having the yellow poplars and the California poppies all flaunting their colours at once!
