Stealing the Show

Ellen Jennings, Passing By Photo, took this AMAZING photo of a Roseate Spoonbill having a bath in a shallow pond, coastal South Carolina, USA.

To me this spoonbill is a star performer taking centre stage… what a beautiful vision in fluffy pink, reflected in the water!

I’m familiar with seeing blackbirds take a bath in a puddle and its amazing how much water they displace. Imagine the quantity of water being flung in all directions from this big bird!

Thank you Ellen – what a stunner!

The original post has an additional two photos of the bathing action, a description of the event and a larger large-size version.

  1. What a wonderful photo Ellen has captured! All that blackness sprinkled with splashes of reflected light, and those vibrant pink ruffled feathers make for a visual feast for the eyes, that’s for sure!
