These lovely yellow flowers caught my attention on recent visits to Larnach and I like the fresh green foliage too. I’ve now had a response from Larnach to my email requesting ID for this plant. Fiona Eadie, Head Gardener, has advised me that it is Bulbinella setosa (from South Africa). Larnach Castle Garden, Dunedin, New Zealand.
In the photo above, the tall skinny tree is a native Pseudopanex species (this type is commonly called Lancewood).

Oh! I recognised these straight away. Our beautiful bulbinella. I don’t have this particular species in my garden, but others are in full flower right now.

They are very striking! Particularly like the picture you’ve captured in your second shot, but they are all lovely!

Thank you! I like the 2nd shot too. Its the area you come into when entering the Castle garden from the main carpark (after walking through a dark bush area to get there).
